Koka Ryu Kempo (甲賀流拳法) was established
by Anshu Christa Jacobson as a system for self-improvement, self-discipline and self-protection. The Art of Koka Ryu Kempo is a direct lineage of
Kosei Ryu Kempo (old dragon fly school of fist fighting) which originated from the Shiga prefecture of Japan.
In 2006 Kosei Sensei awarded Anshu Menkyo Kaiden and named her his successor and 4th
inheritor / grandmaster of the art.
The Kosei Ryu methods of Kempo was passed on to Anshu to keep the
art alive for the next generation. Although Anshu is the inheritor of this art, she also trained with many other masters
from various types of Kempo / Kenpo most notably Master Steve Crawford (founder of American Jujitsu & Combat Kenpo).
By teaching the traditional methods of Kosei Ryu Kempo and combining the training philosophies and tactics from her training in
various other forms of Kenpo / Kempo, this gives birth to the art that we see today as Koka Ryu Kempo (a.k.a. Koka Ryu Dakentaijutsu).

There are 4 areas of training that one has to train in to become profecient in
the art of the Koka Ryu Kempo.
Menkyo Shoden - 5 Kamae - 8 Kata - Kuden
Menkyo Chuden - 10 Kata - Kuden
Menkyo Okuden - 12 Kata - Kuden
Menkyo Kaiden - Kuden
The complete transmission of Kosei Ryu Kempo is transmitted though the training
of the school and consist of over 90% of the curriculum of Koka Ryu Kempo; however, Anshu wanted to add more materials to
the school of training, not to add "better techniques" to the school, but to share with her students the things that
she experienced in her other training methods of kempo, and to give honor to her other kempo masters that she had trained
with.
Koka Ryu Kempo is designed to be as efficient and pragmatic as possible.
The focus is on sequential striking to specific targeted areas to effectively eliminate the opponent.
Kobudo (weaponry) is
also taught within this school. This area of training is called sanki (three tools). This is the focus on
training with the three weapons of the school. Tonbo (single & double short
stick), Kama (single & double sickle), Tanto (single & double knife).
The primary focus of these three weapons is to help discipline the body and mind and to make ones movements in kempo
better. Thus the meaning of the term "tools". The practitioners of this art use these three weapons as tools to
help them find a higher level of awareness and skills with their kempo.
Shōdo is also part of the training regimen and the writing
and understanding of old kanji is essential. This coincides with kuden (verbal teachings) of the ryū and it is essential
to transmit the heiho (strategy) within the school.

| Makimono & Densho of Kosei Ryu Kempo |
There are 2 original makimono that has been passed down to Anshu Christa
Jacobson from her master in the arts of Kosei Ryu Kempo as she is the inheritor of that family art. Anshu wrote 2
Densho to help detail the understandings of the additions, techniques, philosophies and strategies of the Ryu.
DISCLAIMER: When searching for information regarding “secret societies” and old martial
arts schools of training it is very hard if not impossible to find all of the information regarding the history of the arts. The information that I have placed on all of the seven arts that are taught by the
Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo (togakure ryu ninjutsu, koto ryu koppojutsu, gyokko ryu kosshijutsu, tenjin ryu jujutsu, tomo ryu
shinobijutsu, koka ryu dakentaijutsu and eishin ryu iaijutsu) may be entirely wrong.
The information that I have listed is the information that I gathered through my teachers, my training and my personal
research of the arts. This information of the seven martial arts taught in the
Budo Ryu Ninjutsu Dojo I feel is correct information based on my personal training and research.
